Paul Rumbolt Benefit Concert Feb. 1

Paul Rumbolt, a gifted singer-songwriter, is performing a benefit concert for Rhythm & Pitch Children’s Music at Grace United Church in Barrie on Friday, February 1, 2019.

The concert is set for 7 p.m. at Grace, located at 350 Grove St. E. at Cook St.

Paul’s acoustic artistry includes the blues, folk ballads, soul songs, Celtic, country and pop tunes. His songwriting is steeped in the east coast tradition of story-telling through music. His album of originals, Songsmith, garnered positive reviews.

And he’s a great cover artist, too. Paul supplements his original music by drawing from a broad repertoire of Canadiana and Americana roots music, as well as the songs of such luminaries as Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot.

A warm and compassionate person, Paul now ministers to people in palliative care in a  hospice near his home. A native of Newfoundland and former resident of Alberta, Paul lives in West Gwillimbury, Ontario, near Bradford, where he spends his spare time renovating a century home.

“A true Canadian, I’ve made my home in the east, west and central parts of the country where I’ve found welcome, friendship and inspiration,” he says.

Tickets for the benefit cost $20 at Grace, $21.50 online. They are available at Grace, Mondays to Fridays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and online at https://barrie.snapd.com/events/view/1217859
